Spacer length establishes the distance between components. Reference that length to the two contact faces and define any shoulder that seats inside a panel.
If a screw passes through the spacer, give the required clearance. A spacer that locates on a pin requires a different bore tolerance from a loose fastener sleeve.
PTFE can change shape under sustained compression. Include the fastener preload and the supporting face rather than selecting a spacer only from outside diameter.
Electrical isolation also depends on the complete mounting arrangement. Define metal contact paths and creepage requirements when the spacer separates conductive components.
