Drawing-based components

CNC Machined PTFE Parts

PTFE components with pockets, bores, threads and stepped surfaces machined from a dimensioned model. Define functional datums and feature-specific tolerances.

  • Milled features and turned profiles
  • Drawing revision and datums control inspection
  • Critical fits distinguished from general dimensions

Part Requirements

These components are made to the required geometry. The drawing defines the finished dimensions and interfaces.

Use the drawing to identify critical features

A model defines shape, while the drawing identifies the dimensions that control function. Set datums for locating bores, mounting faces and hole patterns so inspection follows the assembly intent.

Do not apply the tightest tolerance to every feature by default. Thin walls and flexible sections need tolerances that account for support, temperature and measurement conditions.

Choose stock and sequence together

The starting stock and the order of operations affect how a soft polymer part is supported. A turned bore, milled pocket and final face may need different holding arrangements.

Threads and slender features require their engagement and loading duty to be defined. For prototype approval, record the measured critical features and the drawing revision used.

Ordering Questions

Is this page the same as the CNC machining capability page?

This page specifies the purchased component. The capability page explains the machining process and when it fits a geometry.

Is a 3D model enough to quote every tolerance?

A model alone usually does not define tolerances, datums, finish or inspection criteria. Supply a drawing for those requirements.
